Chapter 2
The Walk of Faith
Chapter Summary
All of us would like to know what's coming. We have plans, agendas, preferences, and fears. Without knowing the future, we tend to make inflexible plans that we want God to ratify. But God would like us to step forth without knowing what's coming.
This chapter explores how the life of faith is fundamentally different from religious systems. While the Pharisees developed elaborate rules to ensure godliness, they missed God's actual presence and guidance. Life with God is not a system but a walk - a journey through varying circumstances where we learn to watch for cues from Him and seek His spiritual insights for each moment.
The author examines how Jesus called His disciples simply saying "Follow me," without giving them detailed advance information. They were always learning, often confused, frequently unprepared for what came next. This is the essence of faith - walking not by sight but by trust in the One who has perfect vision and complete foresight.
